I hope everyone had a nice holiday season and now I, for one, will wait for spring so that I can get back and enjoy the lake.

It is difficult to know how many people read this site as we do not have a public comment section and I certainly don't update it too often. If you have winter pictures or news that you'd like to share with your neighbors please drop an e-mail to me and I'll be happy to post appropriate information. My e-mail address is in the Association Directory.

Looking forward to hearing from you and even if you don't have any pictures/news, please drop me a note to let me know you are visiting the site. The Board would be interested to have this information, and we would like to know what you, as members, would like to see posted here.

Summer is winding down

The temps are starting to rise as I write this but as we know, Labor Day is right around the corner and Fall is closing in. Some of the members of the cove will remain here and others will be thinking about closing up their summer homes in the next few weeks. For those of us leaving for the winter and even those who will remain, I would like to remind all of us to think about the safety of our properties. We remember what it was like at the beginning of the summer with all of the reported break-ins and most recently the loss of the home on the island.

Motion sensor lights are a good first step. Take home anything that is of value to you. It's all valuable, but you know what I mean! Disconnect propane tanks from your gas grills and other items using propane (unless you are heating the home). Last winter we discovered ours had been used, often, and the grill was left dirty and the tank empty.

Most members have the new member directory but if you do not Bob has a few copies and I have more available that I can mail out upon request. Don't hesitate to contact the Police and your summer neighbor if you notice anything odd or suspicious. I am sure we would all welcome the call.

Please mark your calendars for the 29th of May, 2010. Our annual meeting will be held that day on the beach.

Notice to Residents - Treatment of Northwood Lake

Here is the latest on the treatment for variable milfoil in Northwood Lake, courtesy of Jim Vaillancourt:

We have the permit in hand for the June 5th Navigate (2,4-D) treatment of 33 acres of Northwood Lake.

Here are some of the provisions in the permit:

The treatment is now being done June 5th.
The first sample for water testing will be done on June 20th.
The second sample should be done July 5th.
Two post treatment samples must be collected from the well of Louie's Pizza at 3 days and 1 month post treatment.
Drinking restriction for wells within 50 feet of the lake.
Swimming restriction for 7 days.
Irrigation restriction for 30 days.
NLWA shall make bottled water available, on request, to all persons affected by the potable drinking water use restriction.
Lycott is responsible to find all public wells, the permit list the trailer park.
Permit expires Sept 30, 2008.
